INGREDIENTS

  • fresh Walleye fillets (as much as you want)

  • vegetable oil

  • lime

  • flour

  • eggs

  • bread crumbs

  • Black Magic seasoning

  • tortillas

  • coleslaw

  • avocado crema sauce – avocado, lime, sour cream, sriracha

LET’S TACO-BOUT IT.

From beef tacos to fish tacos, y’all know Mexican is our favorite. These grilled walleye fish tacos do not disappoint. Here we go. First thing, you need to debone your walleye. Tips for deboning the walleye, clean the fillets first. Place knife above ribs and move along, you will feel the bones and you just need to cut through them. Once the rib bone is off, clean it up a little bit. Now run your knife over the fillet and feel for any other bones that may of been left behind. The last thing you want, is to choke on a fish bone. Once that is complete, pat your walleye fillets dry.

Breaded walleye for our grilled walleye tacos

Time to batter these fish. Place the walleye fillets into flour, then the egg wash and last the breadcrumbs. Make sure to heavily coat them. Set on a tray and get ready for grilling. Set your cast iron pan onto the grill, add in vegetable oil and bring to 350-375 degrees. Place your battered fish into the oil, flipping over halfway. Remove the fish from the oil when they are golden brown (about 4-7 minutes) or have an internal temp of 145 degrees. **Deep frying fish can be quite simple but different types of fish can have varying cook times.

AVOCADO CREMA MIGHT BE THE BEST PART ABOUT THESE GRILLED WALLEYE TACOS.

The avocado crema is super easy to whip up, all you need to do is place one whole avocado in a bowl and mash it up, add in sour cream and sriracha with a squeeze of one lime. Mix it all together, it is okay if it is clumpy. Set that aside. Crisp your tortillas up on the grill and build your tacos. Place avocado crema on the bottom, followed by walleye, coleslaw, more crema, some blackened seasoning and a squeeze of a lime. Take a big bite and enjoy

Everyone needs to experience these flavorful grilled walleye tacos with avocado crema and coleslaw, you will not regret it! Leftovers? No problem. Store walleye in an airtight container for 1-2 days, when reheating add a little water or lemon juice to prevent the fish from drying out.
