YOU DONUT WANT TO MISS OUT ON THESE!
The 2hungrydaughters love anything chocolate. Most recently, my step son was with us and I asked him if he wanted to help make a new chocolate donut recipe and his eyes lit up like the 4th of July. He MAY of eaten 8 Alright, let’s get started but first, you need to make sure your baking powder and baking soda is fresh for the donuts to rise to perfection.
Now, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray your donut pan with non stick cooking oil. I always rub mine around with a paper towel. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set that aside. In a medium sized bowl, mix together melted butter, eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into your dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Add in your chocolate chips.
In a large zip lock bag, place batter near the corner, cut open and pipe into donut pan, making one circle. Don’t put in too much batter. See my image for reference. Bake for about 13-16 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Take donuts out and let cool before dipping into the ganache.
To make the ganache, add all ingredients to a microwave safe bowl and cook until melted, keeping an eye not to burn it. Take your chocolate donut for a dip and top with sprinkles. We just made these again for my daughters 5th birthday and they were a HIT. They are a fun little treat to add to any celebration!
Enjoy!
