2hungrydaughters take on the Wisconsin Dells
As summer winds down, we decided to make the most of the last warm days with a family trip to the Wisconsin Dells—a perfect end-of-summer hurrah! Known as the 'Waterpark Capital of the World,' the Dells offered us a mix of excitement, relaxation, and quality family time. Our trip was filled with unforgettable moments that made saying goodbye to summer just a little bit sweeter
Waterpark Capital of the World.
We started our trip off on Wednesday and headed for Wisconsin in the afternoon. It was a solid 4 hour drive and it actually went well, besides 30 minutes of screaming from bubs. We rented a cabin and it was cozy and quiet. As soon as we arrived we unpacked, played, swam and went for a golf cart ride. Where we stayed had a pool and waterpark connected to a campground. For supper, we decided to head to one of our favorite spots, Buffalo Phil’s. If you haven’t been to Buffalo Phil’s it is a MUST see and MUST eat at restaraunt in the Wisconsin Dells. There is an arcade and they bring the food to your table via train. The place is covered in legos and the time it took to build all of them blows my mind.
Kalahari Waterpark
Day 2 lets go!! Full day ahead at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells was nothing short of spectacular. Known for being one of the largest indoor waterparks in the country, the Kalahari offers endless fun for all ages. From exhilarating water slides and a lazy river to the massive wave pool, there was no shortage of activities to keep us entertained. Our girls even learned how to surf. THEY LOVED IT!. The Kalahari truly provided a perfect blend of adventure and comfort. Highly suggest renting a cabana by the pool to hang out in, let the baby nap and have a safe space for all your belongings.
After the waterpark we headed over to Tom Foolery’s. Tom Foolerys Adventure Park at the Kalahari Resort is an indoor playground packed with fun for the whole family. With over 100,000 square feet of thrilling attractions, including go-karts, a ropes course, climbing walls, and virtual reality experiences, it’s the ultimate destination for non-stop excitement. Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself on the ropes or enjoy classic arcade games, Tom Foolerys offers something for everyone to enjoy. Our girls went on rides and K even got to be a human claw and get a ball all by herself. It was so fun! After, we headed home for supper and I had everything prepped for walking tacos.
Land of Natura + Outlet Mall
Day 3. The Land of Natura is a must-visit destination in the Wisconsin Dells, offering a unique outdoor experience that's both family-friendly and fun. Nestled in the heart of nature, this sprawling adventure park features everything from crystal-clear natural swimming areas to lush hiking trails and thrilling ziplines. It's the perfect spot for families to reconnect with nature while enjoying a wide range of activities that cater to all ages. Whether you're floating in the giant inflatable waterpark or exploring the scenic beauty of the Dells, The Land of Natura provides endless opportunities for family bonding and outdoor fun. This spot was a family favorite and highly suggest this to anyone who visits the Wisconsin Dells in the summer.
We grabbed a few bites to eat here and headed out to the Outlet Mall. All of the kiddos made a build-a-hear, got crocs and had some fun shopping. We headed home to eat supper and we grilled hot dogs, smash burgers and ate pasta salad. Everything we had was prepped ahead for an easy vacation!
Mount Olympus
Day 4. Last one, let’s make it a good one! Mount Olympus is a legendary destination in the Wisconsin Dells, combining the thrill of both water and amusement parks into one epic adventure. Perfect for families, this Greek mythology-themed park offers everything from heart-pounding roller coasters to massive wave pools and lazy rivers. The kids will love exploring the sprawling waterpark, with slides and attractions designed for all ages, while thrill-seekers can take on the park’s famous wooden coasters. There is so much to do at Mount Olympus it is a little overwhelming, on top of all of the people there. We did our best to hit every ride and water activity before heading home. My oldest and husband went on the scary roller coasters while me and the littles hung out at the kid water slides. After, we went back to the cabin, packed up and headed out. Thankfully, I had the bbq chicken kabobs all prepped so we threw them on the grill when we got home and it was perfect.
If you’re still here, we truly had the best time. Our end of summer family trip is such a highlight and the girls talk about it for months at school. I encourage you all to do the things and take the trip, the memories are worth so much more than any gift you will every buy.
