Christmas Lights Painting

Cold snowy days call for a fun indoor activity for my girls. They LOVE to color, draw and paint. Paint was used in this one and it ended up all over the table but they had FUN… and that is what matters. Giggles and paint splotches.

Here is an easy Christmas lights painting activity for your kids! I saw this over on another account and wanted to recreate it with my 2hungrydaughters. We used white painting paper, Crayola washable paints, and sponges to make the lights. You could also use potatoes or pompoms. They had SO much fun with this one and there was learning involved. My 4 year old was counting as she did her dots on the lights and my 2 year old went crazy overboard with the paint.

This activity brings hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, imaginative play and creativity. YAY! Here we go! First up grab your white craft paper, lay on the table.. I taped mine down to prevent it from moving around. With a black sharpie, draw your string of lights, making little lines for the bulbs to attach to. Pour some paint on a plate and make little circles out of sponges for stamping. You can show them where to stamp or let their creativity run wild.

My girls mixed colors and got their hands into it. They had so much fun and sang jingle bells while they painted. Sure, they are going to get messy but that’s life with kids. Don’t forget to save their work before they get crazy with their little paint covered hands. You could give this to grandma and grandpa or use it as wrapping paper. I’ll link some supplies below! Have fun!!
