Egg Bake

SUNDAY BRUNCH IS COVERED WITH THIS EASY EGG BAKE RECIPE

This egg bake is a must-have for a memorable breakfast or brunch. It’s simple, tasty, and will easily feed a crowd. My mom has made this recipe for quite a long time and it gets better each time. Sometimes my husband eats 4 pieces in one sitting, talk about delicious. Since this recipe is made the night before, it is perfect for those special, busy mornings such as Easter, Mother’s Day or Christmas.

Alright, let’s go over the full recipe!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 pkg seasoned croutons (herb or sage)

  • eggs

  • cheddar cheese

  • Jimmy Dean sausage

  • milk

  • dry mustard

  • optional – onions, peppers, sliced mushrooms

  • cream of mushroom soup

EGG BAKE

First off, grease a 9×13 baking dish with oil. Anything works for this. Brown your sausage and set it aside. Next up, place seasoned croutons on the bottom as one layer. After the croutons are placed, you will want to sprinkle your cheese on top of that. Once you have your meat fried up and drained, add that on top of the cheese along with any vegetables you might want to add in. Remember, when cooking with veggies, it may make the egg bake runny!!

Now grab out a large bowl to mix the eggs in, I prefer a glass measuring cup. Crack open those eggs and throw them in with 2 1/2 cups of milk and your dry mustard. Wisk it all together and pour it over top. Now the key part of this recipe is that the egg bake  needs to REFRIGERATE OVERNIGHT. Do not forget to do this!

GOOD MORNING! LETS GET THE EGG BAKE IN THE OVEN.

Time to finish that egg bake. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Mix together 1 can cream of mushroom soup and 1/2 cup of milk and layer over top. Cover with foil and place in the oven. Bake for atleast 1 1/2 hours, taking the foil off for the last 15 minutes. Once it is all finished cooking, let it set for 15-20 minutes before eating. Then, Dig IN!

Side note, this recipe can be made with ham but we prefer sausage or bacon. This egg bake is a huge hit when you have guests coming to town or family visiting. We love to pair it with fruit & yogurt parfaits or some 2hungrydaughters chocolate chip muffins https://www.2hungrydaughters.com/chocolate-chip-muffins/ and/or toast.

This egg bake is simple and delicious, we hope you love it!
