How to make ooey gooey Carmelita’s
These delicious Carmelita’s are a staple at most get togethers. They are chewy, chocolatey and delicious. First up, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Next, in a mixing bowl combine melted butter, brown sugar, flour and oats. Spray a 8x8 or 9x9 pan or place down parchment paper and press in half of the mixture into the bottom of the pan. Bake the crust for about 10 minutes in the oven.
After that, take out and sprinkle the whole bag of chocolate chips on top. My girls ate quite a few of these while they added them :) Pour half of a jar of caramel or about 8oz over top of the chocolate chips. I warmed mine up in the microwave for a few seconds prior. Then, sprinkle remaining crust on top and bake for another 20 minutes.
Let the bars cool completely for pop them in the fridge for 2 hours. Take them out, cut into squares and serve. If your 8x8 pan comes with a cover, that is perfect for storing these bars otherwise place them in an airtight storage container.
Enjoy!
