DIY Chalk Paint
It’s almost August and your kiddos are running out of fun things to do this summer. Have no fear, Lisa is here with a new activity to keep them busy outside! This DIY Chalk Paint is such an easy painting craft to get your littles outside and their creative juices flowing.
DIY Chalk paint is the perfect medium for messy out door art that can easily be washed away. Your kids are going to love this activity and you’ll be able to finish that cup of coffee or another chapter in your book.
Supplies
muffin tin
chalk
grater
corn starch
water
paint brushes
Now that you see the supply list, have your kids help gather everything and lets start making our DIY Chalk Paint. In a muffin tin, grate chalk pieces down to a powder like substance. You can also place broken chalk pieces into the muffin tins and smash them down if you don’t have a grater. Make sure to separate by color, the more color the more fun! Add in 1 tsp cornstarch to each muffin tin, mix together. Next up, slowly pour in water so the muffin tin is full and mix together. You don’t want the paint to be too thin, so add more chalk if needed.
Get your kids, grab some paint brushes and head outside. One tip when painting with this DIY Chalk Paint….. the color will always look a bit paler when they are wet than when they are dry. No big deal, just let the kids know it’ll look way brighter when it dries — to prevent the melt down :)
DIY Chalk Paint is such a great outdoor STEM activity. My girls LOVED working with the chalk paint and making a total disaster on the driveway. The vibrant colors look beautiful on the driveway and it washes away with water instantly. We hope you love this activity as much as we do!
