Another pizza recipe, are we even surprised anymore? We got an Ooni pizza oven and we have been loving it. Our first shot at homemade pizza dough went so well, we decided to work up our own recipe to share. This one is quick and easy and doesn't require an electric mixer. A foolproof recipe that provides the best homemade pizza crust, every single time!

INGREDIENTS

  • warm water

  • active dry yeast

  • sugar

  • extra virgin, olive oil

  • salt

  • flour

Homemade pizza dough is just so much better…

First up, pour the warm water into a large mixing bowl. Add in yeast packets and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Once it starts bubbling/foaming, it is ready to go. Next up, add in sugar, oil and salt. Give it a stir and then add in the flour, mix together until you get a sticky dough.

Brush another mixing bowl with olive oil and place the dough in there. Drizzle a little more olive oil over top and spread around with a brush. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and set aside. Let the dough rise for an hour - hour and a half, until it has doubled in size.

I like to whip up our homemade pizza dough before we head off to the 4pm church service, that way it is ready for us when we get home and can enjoy building pizzas together on the patio.

Next, dump some flour on your counter or work surface and place the dough on top. Gently knead the dough for a couple minutes. Divide it into 2 halves for 2 medium pizzas or 4 parts for 4 individual pizzas. Roll it out, make a crust by rolling the edge over a bit, I like to do this with one hand and make it look braided. Now, start putting on all of your favorite toppings. Reminder, the best pizzas have less toppings and sauce.

** IF YOU ARE USING THIS RECIPE WITH A OONI PIZZA OVEN — read this.

For the best results, cook your crust for about 3 minutes prior to adding on all the toppings. Otherwise your pizza dough may not fully cook in the Ooni. Trust Us :)
