Taco Pizza

Well what do we have here? It’s a taco. It’s a pizza. It’s a taco pizza. Perfect for all you Taco Tuesday lovers. Summer is here and that Big Green Egg of ours, is on full blast! My husband and his friends have always been obsessed with Happy Joe’s taco pizza and I’ve never really understood why. So, I decided to take my own spin on a taco pizza and let me tell ya, Pat is hooked. Pizza night is a weekly event in this house and we love to do it ourselves. 

INGREDIENTS

  • ground beef

  • taco seasoning

  • pizza crust

  • ranch dressing

  • taco sauce

  • Mexican blend cheese

  • toppings : crushed up Doritos, tomatoes, sour cream, black olives, shredded lettuce, taco seasoning, salsa and avocado

First off, the crust, you can buy pre-made crusts or make your own. Whatever you decide, grab that now or whip it up quick. Fire up your grill to 400 degrees or your oven to 350 degrees. Next up, brown your hamburger. Add in a taco seasoning packet and stir together or use your own homemade taco seasoning. Set aside.

Once the hamburger is done, you can start creating your taco pizza. For the sauce, mix 1 part ranch with 1 part taco sauce – we prefer Ortega. Spread it out all over the crust, not too much and not too little. Now add on the ground beef. Sprinkle on some Mexican cheese and throw it on the grill. Grill with indirect heat for 8-10 minutes. If you don’t have a grill, place in the oven for 14-16 minutes.

Now with taco pizza, the toppings are what make it. Some of the best are crushed up Doritos, tomatoes, sour cream, black olives, shredded lettuce, sour cream and avocado. You can dip into salsa or add more Ortega. I love Ortega, I actually just really love condiments. Top the pizza with whatever you want, cut it up and enjoy! Homemade pizza truly is easier than you think and way more fun than just throwing a frozen pie in the oven. Give this recipe a try!
