I am so excited to share with you our latest snack obsession, apple donuts. A healthy treat without the guilt, perfect for adults and kids. I know you all have fresh apples from the apple orchard so what better time than now to enjoy them. These apple donuts are a twist on a household favorite here; apples, peanut butter and marshmallows. This snack is so easy to make and only requires a few ingredients that I bet you have in your pantry.

So first off what kind of apples do you like? We prefer honey crisp, sweet tango or granny smith. I love going to the apple orchards where we live and getting a giant bag full, as well as a couple pies.. YUM! Okay, now make sure your apples are round and sit flat. Taking the core out of a crooked apple, can be frustrating. Before cutting the apples, I placed all of our toppings and spreads out. Once the apples are cut they turn brown real quick. The spread options for these are endless, cream cheese with some food coloring, hazelnut spread, peanut butter, sunflower seed butter, yogurt with some honey mixed in. SO MANY OPTIONS. You thought those options were endless, how about the toppings? You could honestly put anything on an apple slice and call it good but we stuck to sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate chips, m&ms, and crushed up cashews.

Now go ahead and slice up those apples, place them in a pile and start decorating. My girls LOVED helping make these, it was such a fun snacktivity. They both ate more toppings than I need to share but they LOVED this snack. I did find that the sunflower seed butter spread the best, the other ones were a little tricky. I suggest drying the top of the apple before trying to spread anything. My favorite was sunflower seed butter with crushed cashews sprinkled on top. However you make these, you will not be disappointed. You could also make these ahead of time for a lunch box treat *soak them in a lemon water solution to help prevent browning. These are definitely a make again snack, the girls gobbled them up.. okay okay so did I. Do you hear that?? Snack time is calling!

Enjoy!
