Blackstone Cheesesteak Sandwiches
Wow, the 4th of July came and went in the blink of an eye and here we are with another Feature Friday grilling recipe. Here we go.
Blackstone Cheesesteak sandwiches loaded with thinly sliced steak, tender onions, warm white queso and served on a toasted hoagie bun. Are you drooling yet?
These might be the best cheesesteak sandwiches you’ve ever had. Not to mention a hearty comfort meal that’s easy to make.
Let’s get started!
INGREDIENTS
4 hoagie buns
mayo
2 NY strips
favorite all purpose rub or steak seasoning
large onion, chopped
swiss cheese
white queso with green chilis (Costco brand)
The details….
First things first, heat up your Blackstone to medium-high heat. Now to prep. Gather all of your ingredients together. Chop the onion and cut your NY strip into thin slices. Place both in separate bowls and head out to the Blackstone or flat top.
Start by caramelizing the onions with olive oil and seasoning, flipping throughout. Move them off to the side. Next, add steak, season and cook until medium-rare.
Combine steak and onions. Continuing to cook for another 10 minutes on low. In a small sauce pan, on low, heat up the white queso. Stirring every so often. We placed ours in the corner of our Blackstone.
Time to assemble. Toast the hoagie buns for a few minutes and then spread mayo over top. Divide the steak and onions into 4 equal parts. Top each part with Swiss cheese and cover with a lid to melt. Grab those hoagie buns and place them open, face down, onto the Swiss cheese, steak and onions. With a spatula, scoop on the bread and flip it over. Drizzle the white queso on top.
Serve and enjoy!
Couple of side notes — kids who don’t like worms? AKA Onions? Make them the same sandwich but just with the steak. It’s delicious. Also, you can choose to use butter on the hoagies instead of mayo but the mayo and cheese truly make these cheesesteaks delicious.
